Frank Lyman, President & CEO

Frank is a seasoned medical device professional who has over 25 years’ experience with both large companies and start-up ventures. He began his career with a start-up biotechnology company and moved on to a large multinational medical device and pharmaceutical corporation based in Chicago. There, he held management positions in regulatory affairs, operations and marketing before branching out to start-up and operate a series of medical device companies. He has taken over 50 medical devices through the FDA 510(k) process.

Frank has raised over $15 million in investments for multiple companies from private investors and large corporate partners. He started SourceTech Medical, a manufacturer of cancer therapeutic devices and sold the company to Bard Medical five years after inception for $39 million providing multiple returns to all investors. Frank has been a senior executive for four different medical device start-up companies before joining Lumoptik.

He earned his bachelor degree in microbiology from Michigan State University and his MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.

Thomas I. Janicki, MD, Founder and Chairman

One of Northeast Ohio's leading minimally invasive gynecologic surgeons, Dr. Janicki is Associate Clinical Professor of Reproductive Biology at Case Western Reserve University and a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of FemmePharma Global Healthcare.

He has served in numerous medical leadership roles within University Hospitals Health System in Cleveland, including positions at UH Case Medical Center and UH Ahuja Medical Center. Past appointments have included Chairman of the Medical Device Subcommittee, Chief of Private Service at MacDonald Women's Hospital, Medical Site Director at University Medical Practices, and member of the Ahuja Leadership Council.

He is an active and highly regarded inventor with numerous issued and pending patents, including the Precision Eye Guidance System, Precision Vascular Guidance System, Precision Epidural Guidance System, Precision Joint Guidance System, and the Precision Drug Delivery System.

In addition, he is in development on a number of inventions including a Personal Communication System, Flexible Robotic Arm, Smart-Drill-Bit System, Penetration Sensor for Ammunition, Medicated Implantable Intraprostatic Capsule, Minimally Invasive System for Treating Uterine Fibroids, and the Veress Needle System and Method.

Robert T. Stone, PhD, Chief Technology Officer

Dr. Stone is CEO of Medical Design Solutions, Inc. He has 30+ years of experience in the field of medical electronic systems and instrumentation including all phases of product development: concept definition, prototyping, design, evaluation, patenting and technology licensing.

Previously, he held management positions at Tronics MedTech; MedTech Development; Pacific Consultants; Natus Medical; MedaSonics; Nellcor; Virginia Polytechnic, and the US Navy. His patent portfolio includes more than 20 issued patents with more pending.

His experience in patent litigation and intellectual property disputes makes him unique to position IP portfolios with technical insights not generally available with IP counsel or typical engineers and scientists.

He has successfully consulted for both Fortune 500 and start-up medical device companies, among them Becton, Dickinson and Company (BD); Boston Scientific; Medtronic; St. Jude; Baxter; Allergan; and Acorn Therapeutics.

Advisory Board

Arthur Janicki, Co-founder, Lumoptik

Arthur is the co-inventor and co-developer of several Lumoptik technologies including the Precision Eye Guidance System, Precision Vascular Guidance System, Precision Epidural Guidance System, Precision Joint Guidance System, the Precision Drug Delivery System and the Enhanced Ultrasound Transducer with Needle Channel. He is also a co-inventor and co-developer of the Smart-Drill-Bit System and Penetrations Sensor.

Arthur attended the University of Cincinnati and now works as the IT Manager for the Health Care Management Group, where he oversees the technology needs of six nursing and rehabilitation facilities in the Cincinnati area.

Oscar Janicki, Co-founder, Lumoptik

Oscar is the co-inventor and co-developer of several Lumoptik technologies including the Precision Eye Guidance System, Precision Vascular Guidance System, Precision Epidural Guidance System, Precision Joint Guidance System, the Precision Drug Delivery System and the Enhanced Ultrasound Transducer with Needle Channel. He is also a co-inventor and co-developer of the Smart-Drill-Bit System and Penetrations Sensor.

He graduated from Cleveland State University in 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications. He has served the healthcare community in many roles, including case management and information technology. When not engaged in Lumoptik business, he works as Network Administrator for a large non-profit healthcare facility in downtown Cleveland.

David Zagorski, MA, MS

David is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Anesthesia at Case Western Reserve University. He provides advice and medical market outlook related to Lumoptik technology applications in anesthesia and pain management. He has been instrumental in developing and conducting animal testing for the Precision Epidural Guidance System.

Gerianne Tringali DiPiano

Gerianne Tringali DiPiano is President & CEO and Founder of FemmePharma Global Healthcare, Inc. as well as Chairman of the company's Board of Directors.

With more than 30 years' experience in the healthcare industry, her background spans many facets of the pharmaceutical industry including sales, marketing, market and systems planning, medical affairs, new product development, licensing and business development for several multinational companies including Baxter HealthCare/American Hospital Supply Corp., Bristol-Myers Squibb, Sterling-Winthrop and Wyeth.

An inventor with issued patents, Gerianne has held academic appointments as Adjunct Professor of Marketing and Director of the MBA program at St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia. She currently serves on the Board of Trustees for Drexel University in Philadelphia; the Corporate Advisory Board of the Society for Gynecologic Investigation; and the Editorial Advisory Board of Biotechnology Healthcare.

Cathy B. Horton, Esq.

Cathy is an entrepreneur and the founder of seven successful startups, all of which were focused on the exploitation of protected technologies. She has been the CEO of Renegade Brands, LLC since 2012. She has 22 years of experience as a global mergers and acquisitions attorney specializing in technology-based transactions, with 15 of those years spent in European markets.

Scientific Advisory Board

Salim Michel Hayek, MD, PhD

Dr. Hayek is Chief, Division of Pain Medicine, Department of Anesthesiology at UH Case Medical Center, and Professor, Anesthesiology at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. He's a nationally and internationally recognized interventional pain specialist with extensive experience in epidural access for pain injections and neuromodulation.

Dr. Hayek, a graduate of American University in Beirut, was awarded his doctorate at Case Western Reserve University and received his post-graduate training in anesthesiology and pain medicine at UH Case Medical Center and Cleveland Clinic.

He currently serves on the Medical Advisory Board at Boston Scientific, Neuromodulation Division, and as a consultant at Janssen, Great Batch/QIG, Medtronic and Globus Medical.

He is a principal investigator in a number of National Institutes of Health and industry-sponsored research projects, and a frequent guest speaker and moderator at scientific seminars throughout the world.

Leonardo Kapural, MD, PhD

Dr. Kapural is a Clinical Director at Wake Forest University Health Sciences Chronic Pain Center, Carolinas Pain Institute and Center for Clinical Research, and a Professor of Anesthesiology at Wake Forest University School of Medicine.

His expertise includes the diagnosis and treatment of discogenic low back pain, visceral abdominal pain, and spinal cord and peripheral nerve stimulation. Dr. Kapural graduated from the University of Zagreb and School of Medicine in the Republic of Croatia, and received his specialty training at McGill University, the University of Connecticut and the Cleveland Clinic.

His noteworthy research findings have been published in myriad journal articles, abstracts and book chapters. He is listed by his peers in the Best Doctors in America and is an invited speaker to many national and international meetings.

Vikram S. Kashyap, MD, FACS

Dr. Kashyap, Professor of Surgery at Case Western Reserve University and Chief, Division of Vascular Surgery and Endovascular Therapy at UH Case Medical Center, enjoys international recognition for his expertise in vascular surgery and endovascular therapy.

He is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University and Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, and completed his post-graduate training at Massachusetts General Hospital, the National Institutes of Health and the University of California, Los Angeles.

His professional career includes the position of Chief, Vascular Surgery at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas, where he achieved a commission of Lieutenant Colonel; he also served as a Member of the White House Medical Unit, Medical Support for the President of the United States, for which he received a Certificate of Commendation.

Dr. Kashyap has been and remains a principal investigator in a number of National Institutes of Health and industry-sponsored research projects.

Timur Paul Sarac, MD

Chief of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery and Co-Director of the Heart and Vascular Center at the Yale School of Medicine, and founder of PeriTec Biosciences Ltd, Dr. Sarac is globally renowned as a vascular surgeon and innovator, with more than 25 issued and pending US and international patents involving intravascular devices.

His graduate education includes the University of Rochester and the State University of New York, Buffalo, with extensive post-graduate training from the University of Rochester, the University of Florida, Gainesville, and Texas Tech University.

He is the recipient of multiple Innovator Awards from the Cleveland Clinic, along with the Operation Iraqi Freedom and Iraqi Enduring Freedom Achievement Medal.

Dr. Sarac has been and remains a principal investigator in a number of National Institutes of Health and industry-sponsored research projects.

Suber S. Huang, MD, MBA

An internationally respected retinal surgeon and researcher, Dr. Huang serves as Chief Medical Officer for Lumoptik Eye Inc. He is also Team Leader for the company's Precision Eye Guidance System. He holds multiple leadership positions at UH Case Medical Center including Vice Chairman, Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, and Director, Center for Retina and Macular Diseases and Surgery. He is also a Professor of Ophthalmology at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.

He received his undergraduate degree from Johns Hopkins University, his medical degree from the Albert Einstein School of Medicine and his MBA from the Weatherhead School of Management, Case Western Reserve University. He completed his residency at the Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins and a fellowship in vitreoretinal diseases and surgery from the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute at the University of Miami.

Dr. Huang has research interests in age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, cell-based therapy, and retinal surgery. He is active in stem cell research and focused on developing the world's first implantable retinal prosthesis. He served as IMSM for the Argus 2 trial, an international phase III multicenter prospective trial that evaluated the safety and efficacy of an intraocular retinal prosthesis for patients with profound vision loss from Retinitis Pigmentosa. The device received FDA approval in 2012.

He has received numerous honors over the years including the prestigious Secretariart's Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Since 2003, Dr. Huang has served on the Steering Committee for the National Eye Health Education Program, an advisory board to the National Eye Institute/National Institutes of Health.
